1st Announcment Agenda Detail Agenda Research THE FIRST ARAB STATISTICAL CONFERENCE AMMAN 12-13 November 2007 STATISTIC DECLARATION OF AMMAN The Arab Institute for Training & Research in Statistics organized with the collaboration of the Jordanian General Statistic Branch the First Arabic Statistic Conference under the theme “No Development without Statistics” during 12-13 November 2007. The Welcome Address was personally inaugurated by Dr. Maroof Al-Bakheet, Jordanian Prime Minister on behalf of High Excellency the King of Jordan. More than 300 Researchers and Experts from 19 Arabic Countries participated to this Conference, a number of Arabic and foreign Experts and International Institutions Representatives. The Conference discussed four principal items, through 50 presentations and studies of various themes, particularly the statistics and its importance for the development, for the strengthening capacity building of statistics, also the present and the horizon of the Arabic statistics, the relationship between the academic and practical statistics and the role of the Universities and the Research Centres in the development of Statistics. The recommendations are as follows: 1. The importance for organizing an Arabic Statistic Conference at minimum once every two years; 2. The importance of the statistic work independence; 3. The importance of the statistic quality to produce official statistics according to the international classifications; 4. Inviting Arabic Countries to strengthen the statistics and to consolidate the statistic capacities as a strategic choice for the economic and social development; 5. The importance of the creation of professional national statistic organizations in the service of the users, utilizing new technology; 6. The strengthening of the relationship between statistic systems, universities and academic institutions in order to improve the statistic work and to offer a statistic framework ; 7. The study of the developed Societies vertically; 8. Inviting Arabic Statisticians and Arabic statistic systems to strongly act with forums and international organizations, and try to influence the international statistics of the Arabic particularities; 9. The activation of Kawarzmi Committee in the international Institute of statistics in order to develop statistic capacities, and 10. The follow up of the Arabic Statisticians Union steps. Its creation was declared during the seminar on 12 November of each year which represent the Arabic Day of Statistics.
