Mr. Haider Al Janabi represented AITRS at the Thirty-second Session of the Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities which has been held in Vienna World Center in September 25-26, 2018.
The Session was attended by more than 25 statistical bodies from the United Nations specialized organizations as well the OECD, the World Bank, Eurostat, SESRIC, GCC Statistical Center and Paris21 Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century.
The Session agenda included a number of issues of interest to statistical work and partnership between donors and regional and international statistical centers. A side session was held with presentations on geospatial information and data and their link to statistical data; open data and its impact on the development of statistical work; and the peer-to-peer international statistics program. After discussing the draft report of the Expert Group on the Collection of Data on Sustainable Development Goals from a number of statistical bodies, participants were urged to participate in the ISI World Congress on Statistics which will take place in Malaysia in August 2019 and the World Data Forum to be held in Dubai next October.
At the closing session of the meeting, the documents to be presented at the next meeting of the Committee that will be held in New York during the month of March 2019 have been discussed.
