A consultative meeting on strengthening relations with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization in Tunisia (ALECSO) and development of questionnaire for the Organization to collect statistical data with a focus on the implementation of the fourth goal of SDGs
At the invitation of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization in Tunisia (ALECSO), General Director of the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics participated in a consultative meeting at the headquarters of ALECSO (Department of Education), on the questionnaire on progress specifications in achieving the fourth goal of sustainable development goals in the Arab countries. With the participation of the Department of Education, the ALEXCO Observatory, AITRS in Amman, Jordan, and Dr. Jehan Al-Jubnani, statistician and head of the Department of the University of Carthage, Tunisia.
The meeting dealt with the importance of developing questionnaires prepared by ALECSO to measure education in order to fit with the fourth goal and its indicators that facilitate the process of collecting the required data.
The meeting also discussed the Institute's role in organizing training courses in education statistics for the benefit of some Arab countries, as well as organizing a training course on the localization of the fourth goal of SDGs related to education by the two organizations during the second semester of 2019. Will be allocate for the development of a unified Arab framework for this goal includes practical steps to collect data and indicators, implementation and follow-up and evaluated.
It has agreed to continue working in order to keep the discussion on topics of common concern. The Institute participated through Skype in the meeting held on Tuesday, 2 April 2019, to present the results of the work carried out in this framework.
The Director General of AITRS met with the Director of the National Institute for Statistics during which he congratulated him on taking office and discussed some issues related to the statistical field and the role of AITRS in raising the capacities of statisticians and benefiting from Tunisian expertise in some fields.
