AITRS organized this workshop during the period 1 to 4 April 2019 in Amman-Jordan in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) And the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) . In the presence of 41 participants representing 18 Arab countries from statistical agencies and ministries of agriculture and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development in addition to five experts from the FAO.
This workshop is part of implementation work plan of the Institute for the current year, which been approved by the Board of Trustees last November. The workshop aims mainly at disseminating the practical guidelines (Volume 2) of the World Program of Agricultural Census for the period 2016-2025 among FAO member countries in the Near East and North Africa region. It also enabled to identify all stages of the agricultural census, including design and planning for the census, and the operations on the fieldwork, processing, preparing, analysis and dissemination of results, as well as a deeper understanding of key stages related to the preparation of agricultural census and its implementation. It also represent an opportunity for Arab countries to present their experiences in this field and to share Arab experiences in order to spread the benefits from successful experiences.
