Environmental indicators within the SDGs 2030

On Thursday, May 23, 2019, the Institute concluded a two-day workshop on environmental indicators within the goals of sustainable development 2030. The workshop was organized in cooperation with the Arab Development Portal of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) - the Arab States Office to familiarize participants with environmental indicators included in the goals of sustainable development And ways to meet the needs of measurement and the preparation of periodic reports on it by the national statistical agencies and in cooperation and coordination with other national institutions, official and private sector. The workshop aimed to:

- Enhancing countries' readiness to meet the requirements of the environmental indicators included in Agenda 2030.
- Keeping up with the latest United Nations methodologies in this area.

The workshop was activated by the environment expert Ms. Therese Gemayel from the United Nations Development Program - Regional Office for the Arab States and adopted the method of training in the presentation of theoretical lectures and presentations, in addition to interactive discussions over the Internet and devoted the second day to present the experiences of the Arab statistical offices. Jordan, Bahrain, Palestine, Qatar, and Egypt presented their experiences in the field of environmental indicators.

27 participants from Arab statistical offices from 12 countries participated in the workshop, as well as two participants from the Arab Development Portal.
